The treatment begins with psychiatrist and psychotherapist evaluation. During an interactive session doctor, patient and family members are encouraged to take active part in a constructive dialogue to enable better profiling of the patient’s psychological and behavioural characteristics, so as to assist in identifying their characters and capabilities.
The most important condition to a successful treatment is that the patient is motivated and wants to be treated. Motivation for treatment means a desire to total abstinence and thorough lifestyle changes and not only “cleansing the body” from drugs.
The latest medical research has proven that changes at the brain cellular level, caused by alcohol or drug abuse, are reversible after the abstinence. This means the brain can completely recuperate. This brain recovery time varies for different drugs: from three months for cocaine and alcohol up to a year for opiates and heroine.
